US Tariff Situation

To our American Friends (and we emphasize “FRIENDS”!!):

AdMore Lighting products are proudly developed, designed and manufactured in Canada (Calgary, AB to be exact).  AdMore also distributes other brands’ products including, but not limited to, Denali Electronics, HEX Innovate, Posi-products, Goldstrike, and SoCalMotoGear/Pathfinder LED.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Administration implemented wide-ranging tariffs (duties/taxes) on goods coming into the USA from many countries around the world, including Canada.  The tariff policies (including countries, product categories, and tariff amounts) change frequently and suddenly based on decisions of the U.S. Administration.

What does this mean for you as a customer based in the USA?

AdMore-branded products (e.g. light bars, luggage lighting, Park-n-Move, etc.) are manufactured in Canada.  If you order an AdMore-branded product, there are currently no tariffs levied by the U.S. Administration on Canadian-made goods under the USMCA Trade Agreement.  Non-AdMore branded products (e.g. Denali Electronics, HEX Innovate, Posi-Products, etc.) are subject to U.S. tariffs as most of the products made by these companies are not manufactured in the USMCA trade zone (Canada, Mexico, or the USA).  As such, if you order these brands, you should be prepared to be charged tariffs on the value of these products as well as a brokerage fee (generally around $35) before your order is delivered to you.

What happens if I order an AdMore-branded product and a non-AdMore branded product in the same order?

If you order an AdMore-branded product and a non-AdMore branded product (e.g. Denali Electronics, HEX Innovate, Posi-Products, etc.) in the same order, your order will likely be subject to U.S. tariffs.  The amount of the tariff will depend on the value of the products ordered that are not manufactured in the USMCA trade zone (e.g. China, Hong Kong, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan, etc.) and the applicable tariff rate at the time of entry into the USA.  A brokerage fee may also apply.

How do I know exactly how much I will end up paying in tariffs?

This is a difficult question to answer as the U.S. Administration has been changing its tariff policies frequently and suddenly.  The tariff amount will be dependent on the country of manufacture of the products ordered, the value of the products ordered that are manufactured outside of the USMCA trade zone, and the applicable tariff amount in place at the time the product(s) enter(s) the USA.

So, will AdMore charge me more than what I paid on their website?

No!  AdMore only receives the payment for your order that you make online on the AdMore Lighting website.  Any additional charges (e.g. tariffs, brokerage fees) that are assessed after placing your order are charged to you by the U.S. government and the carrier (e.g. UPS) as your order is imported into the USA.

Final Note

For over 30 years, there has been a free flow of goods and services across North America (Canada, Mexico and the USA) under NAFTA and more recently the USMCA (the successor to NAFTA) and we are hopeful that the U.S. Administration will, at some point, restore this free flow of goods and services within the region so that the extra fees, administration and transit delays incurred by so many of us will no longer be a factor.  For now, this is the reality for all of us.  Thank you for your understanding.
